Eric C. Leas, PhD MPH, is an assistant professor and epidemiologist at the Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health at the University of California, San Diego. He previously worked as a fellow at the Stanford Prevention Research Center. He holds graduate degrees from the University of California, San Diego, and the University of California, Los Angeles. During a portion of his studies, he resided in Kigali, Rwanda, as a Drabkin/Bixby Global Health scholar.
Dr. Leas' research primarily focuses on making population-level inferences about substance use behaviors using innovative data sources, such as search engines and social media. His work has received support from the US Food and Drug Administration, the National Institute on Drug Abuse, and the California Department of Public Health.
