My name is Eric Leas. I am an assistant professor at UC San Diego and was previously a fellow at Stanford University. I completed my graduate studies at UCLA and UC San Diego. I am among the first generation of scientists to come of age in the "Big Data" era. My research explores how modern analytical methods and data streams can improve our understanding of public health and inform health policy. A primary topic area of my research has been substance use, and this has been supported by the US Food and Drug Administration, the National Institute on Drug Abuse, the California Tobacco-ReIated Disease Research Program and others. I am the Principal Investigator of the Tobacco E-commerce Lab.
